Previously, a widely used option available to welders working in areas with overhead hazards was the combination welding shield with safety helmet. However, since the welding shield and safety helmet are mechanically connected, this meant that when welders’ took off their welding helmet they also removed their overhead protection.
With the new 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmet 9100 QR, welders never need to remove their safety helmet when they remove their welding helmet. This is particularly important for worksites across Australia and New Zealand where the wearing of safety helmets is compulsory at all times.
Once secured on the safety helmet the 3M™ Speedglas™ Quick Release Rail allows the welder to easily attach or remove the welding shield with a squeeze of a gloved finger and thumb. The ability to detach the welding shield independently of the safety helmet means it may be removed for non-welding tasks.
On the other hand, if the welder prefers to keep the welding helmet attached, it may be quickly and easily parked in the raised position. This parked position creates a low centre of gravity, maintains a low profile and reduces the load on the wearers’ neck.
